Program Benefits
As a federally funded program, the McNair Scholars Program proudly provides a range of benefits to unlock opportunities for our Scholars and to empower them to explore their potential, expand their horizons, and pave the way for a successful future in academia and beyond.
Faculty Mentorships
Under the guidance of McNair Staff, each Scholar has the opportunity to explore and cultivate a supportive relationship with a faculty member who provides academic, research, and graduate school support aligned with their specific field of study.
Funded Summer Research Internships
Each Mcnair Scholar undertakes the development of a grant proposal for an original project, completes a comprehensive manuscript, and presents their work to a diverse, multidisciplinary audience.
Graduate School Planning and Support
McNair Scholars actively participate in a series of workshops and seminars tailored to provide valuable information on a wide range of topics. These sessions cover essential areas such as navigating college and preparing for future endeavors, research design strategies, and guidance on the graduate school application process.
Academic Proactive Advising
Every Scholar has access to comprehensive academic, career, and personal support, provided through regular meetings with our dedicated Advising Specialist. Our proactive and intrusive advising approach ensures that we meet our scholars exactly where they are in their journey, addressing their needs effectively.
Academic Community Building
Our program provides a diverse range of social and academic activities to equip our Scholars with the necessary skills and experiences for success in graduate school and beyond.
Research Funding
McNair proudly provides funding to support each Scholar’s research project.
Opportunities for Travel
Much like research, McNair also provides the necessary funds to assist scholars in attending professional conferences and graduate school visits to prospective institutions.
