Program Benefits
As a federally funded program, the McNair Scholars Program proudly provides a range of benefits to unlock opportunities for our Scholars and to empower them to explore their potential, expand their horizons, and pave the way for a successful future in academia and beyond.
Faculty Mentorships
Under the guidance of McNair Staff, each Scholar has the opportunity to explore and cultivate a supportive relationship with a faculty member who provides academic, research, and graduate school support aligned with their specific field of study.
Funded Summer Research Internships
Each Mcnair Scholar undertakes the development of a grant proposal for an original research or creative project, completes a comprehensive manuscript, and presents their work to multidisciplinary audiences.
Graduate School Planning and Support
McNair Scholars actively participate in a series of workshops and seminars tailored to provide valuable information on a wide range of topics. These sessions cover essential areas such as success in undergraduate studies, career and grad program exploration, research and creative project design strategies, and guidance on the graduate school application process.
Proactive, Individualized Guidance
Every Scholar has access to holistic academic, career, and personal support, provided through regular meetings with the Project Director, Programming Specialist, and their Faculty Mentor. Our proactive approach ensures that we meet our scholars where they are and effectively address their needs.
Academic Professional Development
Our program provides a diverse range of social, professional, and academic activities to equip our Scholars with the necessary skills and experiences for success in graduate school and beyond.
Research Funding
McNair proudly provides funding to support Scholars' research and creative projects.
Opportunities for Travel
McNair also provides preparation and funding necessary to assist Scholars in attending professional conferences and participating in visits to graduate programs.
