All Truman McNair Scholars will participate in research and scholarly activities every year.
OFF-CAMPUS RESEARCH DURING THE SUMMER
All McNair Scholars and Pre-McNair Fellows are encouraged to apply for external summer research internships each year. Due dates and opportunities vary, so you need to set aside time to explore these and to ask for help from faculty members in your major, McNair staff, the Career Center, and other relevant offices on campus (e.g. Center for Diversity & Inclusion, STEP Office).
- STEM majors can begin with this select list.
- All majors can use this list to explore a variety of internships.
Many summer internships will pay for your housing, meals, and travel as well as provide a stipend (pay for your work).
McNair scholars in good standing who are invited to participate in external internships that do not provide funding are eligible for funding through the Truman McNair Program.

COMING SOON! Academic Year Research Internship (AYRI) funding is available for eligible McNair Scholars. Check out requirements and apply here.
