McNair Program

Welcome SRI Applicants!  Complete the steps below.

MATERIALS TO SUBMIT:

1. Letters of Recommendation (LOR): Ask three individuals to write a letter of recommendation for you. References should be able to speak to your ability to contribute to and benefit from the summer research internship as it relates to your professional and/or academic experiences as well as your potential as a summer research intern. One reference must be from your research supervisor.

Deadline for LORs: Friday, March 7, 2008 by 11:59 p.m. to bkuhns@truman.edu.  A hard copy of your letter is not needed.

2. On-line application: Follow the directions completely. You will be asked for personal information, your personal statement and your research proposal. You will receive immediate confirmation once you submit your application.

Deadline to submit On-line Application: Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11:59 p.m.

The online application will be closed at 12:00 AM on Saturday, March 8. At this time, you will no longer be able to access the on-line application link or submit an application.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Applicants are encouraged to contact Bich Kuhns (McNair Program Administrative Assistant) to receive updates as to which recommenders have and have not sent in their letters of recommendation. These letters must be emailed to bkuhns@truman.edu by the deadline stated above. Also, if your recommender would like more information about the SRI in order to better tailor their letter, direct them to the McNair website.

• Following the close of the March 7 deadline, Bich Kuhns will contact you by e-mail if any part of your SRI application is incomplete.

• The SRI Proposal Review Committee will meet to go over your application. Expect notification of the status of your application by April 1, 2008.

• If you have any questions regarding the submission process, please contact Bich Kuhns at bkuhns@truman.edu or 785-5393. All other questions, including content of your research proposal, should be addressed to your classroom teacher or research supervisor.
