One of the highlights of the Scholar's career at Truman is presenting the results of their research in a public forum at national, regional, and local conferences. It is at such conferences that the Scholar realizes "how good they really are," which enhances their confidence and cements their commitment to proceed on to graduate school. Here is a presentation from Emmanuel Nnadozie, John Ishiyama and Jane Chon on Undergraduate Research Internships and Graduate School Success.
Every September, the McNair Program at Truman hosts its Annual McNair Research Presentation and Luncheon. The conference provides an opportunity for the Scholars who participated in the Summer Research Internship to present their research findings. These presentations are divided into morning and afternoon sessions by a luncheon and speech from the keynote speaker, an alumnus of the Truman State University McNair Program. Invitations are extended to all Truman State University faculty and students as well as to members of the community who are associated with the McNair Program at Truman. The 14th Annual McNair Research Presentation and Luncheon was held on September 27, 2006. To see the abstract click here.
McNair Scholars have in the past presented at many different McNair conferences as well as professional and academic meetings. Likewise, Scholars present their research findings to the Truman community at the Annual McNair Research Presentation and Luncheon held each fall. Many Scholars also present their work at the Truman State University Undergraduate Research Symposium in the spring.
The conference includes McNair Scholars from various universities in the heartland states. Scholars have the opportunity to meet with various graduate school representatives, present their research, and hear other Scholars' presentations. To request more information, please click here.
